On July 16th in Hefei, the third conference of Integration Design Group of Magnetic Confinement Fusion Reactor (Hereinafter referred to as the Integration Design Group)was held by Ministry of Science and Technology and Academician Wan Yuanxi ，the Integration Design Group leader, conducted the conference. Those who attended included Fu Xiaofeng, the director of the major research program of Basic Research Division in Ministry of Science, Xu Wu, the secretary of the Party committee of our school and our Principal Hou Jianguo.

Academician Wan started the conference by delivering a brief introduction on the ongoing process of the program and its arrangement of declaration procedure. Then the experts from each subsystem of《Integration Design of Magnetic Confinement Fusion Reactor 》program exchanged their preparation work for the declaration, which has made substantial progress. Furthermore, the first conference plan of fusion reactor series seminars was finalized.

Secretary Xu extended his warm welcome to the experts and said that this conference showed that the government has high expectation for the school, which would be an encouragement as well as a challenge. And the school, as a support institution, would try its best to fulfill the duties and facilitate the work of Integration Design Group.

Director Fu said that Engineering Conceptual Design of Fusion Reactor project of China would start officially. With the support of the nation and the involved experts, what the Integration Group has done would lay solid foundation for the project approval and construction. Therefore, this conference will have historic significance. He hoped all the experts would follow the guidelines to fulfill the declaration procedure of 《Integration Design of Magnetic Confinement Fusion Reactor 》.

On July 16th , the appointment ceremony was held for USTC’s part-time (Visiting) professors and external doctoral advisors.  President Hou issued the letters of appointment to the experts. He said that it’s our honor to have them accepted the invitation. USTC attaches great importance to the research and development of nuclear energy and established the Nuclear Science and Technology College (NSTC) with Hefei Institutes of Physical Sciences in 2009.With considerable progress and as one of the only two universities of "Nuclear Science and Technology" national key disciplines, NSTC has actively taken part in ITER plan and ADS project of Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 2011 , USTC became the support institution of national Integration Design Group of Magnetic Confinement Fusion Reactor (preparing), we will do our best to offer full support under the leadership of the Ministry of Service.

Also in attendance were Vice President Dou Xiankang, Zhang Shulin, Zhu Changfei and related personnel of Nuclear Science and Technology College.

To fully absorb the design of International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) , to understand the related engineering design and key technologies of fusion reactor physics, and to carry out the research of our overall design of magnetic confinement fusion reactor, Ministry of Science and Technology set up a magnetic confinement Overall fusion reactor design team (preparation) in March 2011, whose members engaged in thermonuclear fusion research from domestic research institutes and universities, and Academician Wan Yuanxie was appointed the group leader.
